We took the concept of a digital interactive wine guide to the Platter’s SA Wine Guide publishers and with their blessing produced one of South Africa’s first native iPhone apps.
With a print run of only 40 000 physical copies and the problem of not being able to add any more content to the current form factor, the app has created a new revenue stream and contact point for the Platter’s brand.
Three years and three versions later, the app had sold tens of thousands of copies worldwide and held positions on the Top Selling and Top Grossing charts on the SA iTunes Store for over six weeks. An Android version of the app was also produced.
After fours years we sold the app and its IP to Diners Club International in 2011.
